summer starts: Emergency hvac replacements

When a local office reached out to us at the start of summer, they were eager to get ahead of rising temperatures and ensure comfort for their team. Both of their only two HVAC units—4-ton split systems—had stopped cooling. At over 20 years old, the systems were at the end of their service life and overdue for replacement.

Recognizing the urgency and importance of uninterrupted comfort for a busy office full of people, Keystone quickly mobilized a full crew and completed the entire replacement on a Saturday during after-hours. This minimized disruption to the client’s operations while delivering immediate results.

We installed two new Goodman 4-ton systems, a trusted and economical brand many of our customers appreciate for its reliability and performance. These energy-efficient systems included modern outdoor condensers and multi-position indoor air handlers, engineered to meet today’s standards for comfort and efficiency.

One of the project’s more complex challenges was the existing refrigerant lines, which were buried underground and couldn’t be inspected for integrity. To ensure a lasting solution, our team installed brand-new line sets above ground. The client also had a specific aesthetic request: only one penetration through the soffit. Rising to the occasion, we custom-built a linehide made from PVC board to discreetly house all four refrigerant lines and wiring. Artisan-crafted and cleanly finished, this solution preserved the building’s appearance while protecting the new infrastructure.

In addition to the new equipment installation, we removed and disposed of the old systems, flushed and brazed the new refrigerant lines with nitrogen, and performed a full system evacuation down to 30 microns. We secured all drain lines with P-traps and overflow protection, and carefully suspended and leveled the attic air handlers for optimal performance and longevity.
